Applications for the Yuri Milner Scientific Awards have begun to be accepted
On Tuesday, applications for scientific prizes established by Russian businessman Yuri Milner began to be accepted. Any person can nominate a candidate for these awards using a special application form on the awards website. This is stated in press releases received by the editorial office of "Gazeta.Ru».
Applications for the Fundamental Physics Prize, founded by Yuri Milner, will be accepted until October 15, 2013. In November, the names of three winners of the Physics Frontiers Prize and three winners of the New Horizons in Physics Prize for young scientists will be announced.
The winner of the 2014 prize will be selected among the laureates of the "Cutting Edge of Physics", each of whom will receive a prize of $ 300 thousand. The winners of the "New Horizons in Physics" prize will receive $100 thousand each.
Applications for the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, which Yuri Milner founded jointly with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, as well as Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife Anna Wojcicki, will be accepted until October 2, 2013.
This year it is planned to announce up to five winners of this award, each of whom will receive $3 million. The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences awards will be awarded for merits in the fight against incurable diseases or in the field of prolonging human life. A special prize, which was established by Sergey Brin and Anna Wojcicki, will be awarded for success in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
