Science is beautiful: results

On June 25, the results of the photo contest "Science is beautiful!" were summed up in the hall of the Collegium of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners, who came from all over Russia, took place.

The competition was held from May 1 to April 30 on the initiative of the publication "Science and Technology of Russia – STRF.ru " together with the Park-Media company, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Federal Agency for Science and Innovation, the Union of Photo Artists of Russia, the Photographer portal.Ru and many other organizations.

The purpose of the contest is to show that our science is not only unique developments and high achievements, but also thin, artfully woven matter – multidimensional threads of unique creative works.

It turns out that behind the gray walls of scientific institutes there is a beautiful and unusual world that everyone can see, thanks to the competition, for the second year in a row.
According to the organizers, both the quality and quantity of work were even higher than last year. Our scientists are creative people. This is evidenced by the magnificent photos sent by the contest participants.

More than 500 works from scientists, photographers, students and even schoolchildren came to the competition. The photos vividly demonstrate the beauty of our world: a dewdrop at sunset, the magical world of the cage, ice crystals on the window, a winged mollusk, a nuclear power plant. This is only a small part of the world that the participants who sent their works to the competition wanted to show.

For an authoritative jury, which included representatives of the world of science, art, business, and the state, it was difficult to choose the most worthy works among such a variety. After a long vote, the winners were 14 participants whose works, in addition to artistic aesthetics, were distinguished by originality and sophistication of scientific thought.

Within the framework of the competition, the following nominations were announced: "The world hidden from our eyes", "Science means development". In addition, two special nominations were announced – "Aesthetics in Hardware" (nomination of NT-MDT, Russia's leading manufacturer of devices for research in the nanometer range) and "Audience Award", the winner of which was chosen by voting on the website www.strf.ru .
