Subsidies to young scientists of St. Petersburg

The Committee on Science and Higher Education on the basis of the Law of St. Petersburg of 25.11.2009 N 605-104 "On the budget of St. Petersburg for 2010 and for the planning period of 2011 and 2012" and the decree of the Government of St. Petersburg of 19.06.2007 No. 684 "On the main measures for the development of scientific activity in St. Petersburg for 2008-2011" conducts a competitive selection to provide subsidies in 2010 to young scientists, young candidates of sciences of universities and academic institutes located in St. Petersburg (hereinafter - the competitive selection).

Subsidies are provided on a gratuitous and irrevocable basis to individuals under the age of 35 who are young scientists (with the exception of students and postgraduates of universities and academic institutes located on the territory of St. Petersburg), young candidates of sciences of universities and academic institutes located on the territory of St. Petersburg (hereinafter referred to as applicants for subsidies).

Universities and academic institutions located on the territory of St. Petersburg are understood in this notice as:
– universities located on the territory of St. Petersburg and having state accreditation;
– academic institutes that are institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Russian Academy of Education, the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, and located on the territory of St. Petersburg.

Subsidies are provided in order to reimburse costs in connection with the implementation of scientific, scientific and technical activities, experimental developments, applied scientific research (hereinafter referred to as scientific activity) in order to develop scientific activities of young people.

The conditions for granting subsidies are:– implementation by applicants for subsidies of scientific activities in universities and academic institutions located on the territory of St. Petersburg;

– absence of other budgetary allocations for reimbursement of expenses for which a subsidy is requested;
– economic feasibility and documentary evidence of the costs for which the subsidy is requested.

Each applicant for subsidies may submit only one application for a grant for competitive selection.

The maximum amount of the subsidy is 100 thousand rubles for young scientists, 150 thousand rubles for young candidates of sciences.

Deadline for submission of applications: until September 3, 2010 (inclusive).

The deadline for the project is 30.10.2010.

Applications are not accepted for the competitive selection:– filled out in violation of the forms established by the Committee (see appendix);

– received after the expiration of the period specified in this notice;
– in the absence of documents, the list of which is given in the annex to this notice.

The time for accepting applications is from 10-00 to 16-00 (except Saturday and Sunday).

It is advisable for applicants to receive subsidies to submit applications to the specified address in person, preferably in advance, while it is necessary to have a passport with them.
