The Mikhail Lomonosov program announces another competition

Grants (research scholarships) for 2016-2017 under the Mikhail Lomonosov program

The Moscow representative Office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) announces the acceptance of applications for research scholarships under the joint program "Mikhail Lomonosov" for 2016-2017 with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. 

In a message about the competition on the DAAD website, the organizers ask applicants to pay attention to changes in the application procedure:

attention: The procedure for submitting applications has changed! Documents drawn up in an inappropriate way, as well as outdated questionnaires are not allowed before participating in the competition!

Full name of the program:
Joint program "Mikhail Lomonosov" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and DAAD: research scholarships and scientific internships (Michail-Lomonosov-Forschungstipendien und -aufenthalte).

The scholarship provides an opportunity for Russian graduate students and teachers of technical and natural sciences to undergo an internship at universities and non-university research centers in Germany in order to conduct research within the framework of a dissertation or other scientific project being developed.

The internship with the support of DAAD is possible in the following terms:

6 months: from 01.10.2016 to 31.03.2017 (for target group "A");
3 months: from 09/15/2016 to 12/15/2016 (for target group "B").

The internship terms for each group are fixed and cannot be changed or reduced!

In accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and DAAD, participation in the Mikhail Lomonosov program is allowed only every second year.

Target groups of the program:

"A": Full-time graduate students and young scientists of technical and natural disciplines who at the time of 01.10.2016 are not yet 35 years old, having a specialist's or master's degree. Candidates of sciences under 35 years of age are also eligible to participate in the competition as applicants of the target group "A".

"B": Teachers and scientists of technical and natural disciplines who will not yet be 45 years old on 15.09.2016, who have a PhD or Doctor of Sciences degree.

Attention!
Applicants must be full-time graduate students or full-time employees of one of the state universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (MES).

Applications from persons whose place of work is research institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences are not accepted.

The amount of the scholarship jointly funded by DAAD and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, depending on the status of the scholarship holder, ranges from 1,000 (group "A") to 2,000 (group "B") euros per month. Part of the scholarship, funded from the funds of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, is transferred to the account of the Russian university and paid to the scholarship holder through the accounting department. Part of the scholarship funded by DAAD is transferred to the account opened by the scholarship holder after arrival at the internship venue.

Language knowledge and its assessment:
Applicants must have a good command of German or English to the extent sufficient to communicate with German colleagues on scientific topics.

Applicants of group "A" confirm the degree of proficiency in German or English by using:
the Sprachzeugnis fur auslandische Bewerber/ Language certificate for foreign applicants form, filled out by a university teacher of the corresponding foreign language, must be stamped by the international department of the university or faculty, 
or any certificate of international standard, for example: for German – TestDaF, DSD or certificate of the Goethe Institute with the result for English – TOEFL, IELTS, ESOL.

Applicants of group "B" do not provide proof of language knowledge.

The electronic version of the application is submitted through the DAAD portal strictly from 16.06. to 20.09.2015 (the portal is open for application submission until 24 hours of 20.09.2015 Central European time).

The paper version of the application in triplicate (all subsequent copies can be copied from the first one) marked "Mikhail Lomonosov" is sent by mail, courier delivery service or submitted by the applicant to the Moscow DAAD representative office in person until September 20, 2015 inclusive (by postmark). However, please note that applications must be submitted to the Moscow Representative Office no later than October 1, 2015.

Attention!
Due to the large volume of incoming correspondence, the Moscow representative office does not confirm the receipt of documents sent by applicants by mail for participation in the competition.

Applications received by e-mail or fax are not allowed to participate in the competition.
