Bayer and the Skolkovo Foundation have announced a competition for biotech startups Patents Power. Applications will be accepted on September 19

The aim of the project is to search for promising ideas and innovative solutions with a high potential for intellectual property protection, which in the future will be able to help in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, malignant neoplasms, women's health and ophthalmology. Kamila Zarubina, Director of Acceleration in the direction of Pharmaceuticals of the BMT cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation, tells about the criteria for selecting potential participants:
"Startups should develop medicines or biomedical cellular products for the treatment of the above diseases. We have several selection criteria. Of course, they must correspond to these therapeutic directions, the projects must have a defined biomishen, which is affected by the drug being developed. Projects must necessarily have some preliminary primary research and development data that confirms the concept. And the most important thing (our competition is dedicated to the protection of intellectual property) is that a project, a startup, a molecule in one way or another should have the potential to protect intellectual property in international markets."
The participants of the competition will have the opportunity to present their projects to the top management of Bayer. The winners can already count on grants and mentoring support, as well as access to Bayer's industrial expertise in the field of IP. About what he prepares for the participants and winners "Skolkovo" – says Kamila Zarubina.

This will be the project management, it will be an opportunity to get the status of a Skolkovo participant, as well as the opportunity to receive grant funding. As part of the Patent School, we will hold a seminar at which we will address the issues of a high-quality patent portfolio, the availability of foreign patents and how important they are and how to protect your intellectual property to a startup in order to attract investment and commercialize your development in the future."
The full-time final, which will include 10 projects, will be held on November 1 as part of the Patent School.
