Winter School at the biostation of the University of Helsinki

Grants 2013 for participation in the Winter School of the University of Helsinki (Finland)

The Finnish Center for International Mobility CIMO invites Russian and Ukrainian graduate students to take part in the 17th Winter Scientific School, which will be held from March 11 to 16, 2013 at the biostation of the University of Helsinki in Tvarmin.

The purpose of the Winter School is to promote the mobility of young scientists and postgraduates between Finland and the participating countries; to create conditions for inter–university cooperation.

Before submitting applications for participation in the School, potential participants are encouraged to establish contact with one or more research groups at Finnish universities and discuss the possibility of joint research projects with them. Expressions of interest from representatives of research groups of Finnish universities will be taken into account in the selection process of candidates for participation in the work of the School.

The Finnish Center for International Mobility finances the accommodation of school participants, meals and most of the transportation costs.

The 17th CIMO Winter School is planned as an interdisciplinary one. The school will focus on plasticity in a variety of scientific fields: computer science, biochemistry, structural biology, nanotechnology, cell biology, neurology and linguistics.
Applications from researchers working in related fields such as biochemistry, linguistics, molecular and cellular biology, physiology, bioenergetics, cell imaging, neurology, nanotechnology, computer science, molecular medicine and other areas in medicine, etc. are welcome.

The deadline for submitting applications is October 22, 2012.

Those participants of the School who will be invited by Finnish research groups after graduation will be offered a scholarship under the CIMO Fellowship program. The duration of the program is from 3 to 18 months. In 2012, the scholarship was 1,200 euros per month.
