Unlike traditional breeding, during which the genotype is changed only indirectly, genetic engineering allows you to directly interfere with the genetic apparatus, using the technique of molecular cloning. However, progress has not yet reached the stage of programming people. Examples of the use of genetic engineering are the production of new genetically modified varieties of cereals, the production of human insulin through the use of genetically modified bacteria, the production of erythropoietin in cell culture or new breeds of experimental mice for scientific research.
