Scientifically based advertising

I wonder how many other sites will reprint this note published in Izvestia Nauki without comment, without thinking about where the legs of this research grow from, retold (as is customary in the yellow press) without specifying the original source? Learn at the wing!Spanish scientists have found a simple way to earn extra money to keep a clear mind

Forty years ago, it was believed that nerve cells do not regenerate.

Now the concept has changed: it turned out that they are restored in at least two areas of the brain – the hippocampus and the olfactory bulb, responsible for memory and perception. Over the years, the transformation of the corresponding stem cells into neurons slows down, but this nuisance can be dealt with, not only by memory exercises, but also by diet.

Spanish scientists from the University of Barcelona, led by Professor Unceta, set the following experiment. For forty days, which in this case corresponds to a fifth of human life, they fed mice food with cream additives rich in polyphenols and polyunsaturated fatty acids. This cream is made by the company "La Morella Nuts" from dried fruits, nuts, coconut, vegetable oil and flour with a large amount of vegetable fibers. As it turned out, the experimental mice in both brain regions had much more stem cells and newly formed neurons than in the control group deprived of the miracle cream. It remains to add that polyphenols are found in tea, beer, wine, nuts, olive oil and fruits, especially in their skins. And polyunsaturated fatty acids are found in fish, soy, corn, sunflower seeds and pumpkin. This is reported by Chemistry and Life. Gratuitously informs, i.e. for free.

El Mundo (or who in Spain called it out?) I probably missed such a note only on the rights of advertising. In the drawing, as you might guess, Don Morella,

owner of the candy factory of the same name,
and a British Spanish scientist.
