Stem cell cream is just a publicity stunt

Don't waste money on cosmetics with stem cells!

Cosmetics with stem cells are advertised as a miracle breakthrough. It is promised that such novelties are able to rejuvenate the skin, activate cell regeneration, renew elastin and increase collagen concentrations. "As a result of using a cream with stem cells, you will get rid of wrinkles and any signs of aging," the manufacturers are touting. And many women tend to believe these promises. But is it possible to talk about stem cells in cosmetics as a necessary innovation? Do they work?

What are stem cells? To begin with, let's turn to science and find out what stem cells are?

In both plants and animals, stem cells are the mother cells that can become the basis for any type of cell in a living organism. In medicine, these properties of stem cells are successfully used. Stem cells can be used to grow individual organs for transplantation and treatment of all types of diseases.

It would seem that this can be successfully used in cosmetology. For example, to grow whole areas of new skin to get rid of wrinkles and some imperfections.

However, it is too early to rush with raptures. The study of stem cells is just beginning. Many studies are still in the very early stages. And it will take years for a really working cosmetic procedure or cosmetics based on stem cells to appear.

However, this circumstance does not prevent some cosmetic brands from claiming that they have already developed creams with stem cells, and these novelties work by reversing the aging process. But the stem cells contained in the care products simply cannot work, as the manufacturers claim. And here's why.

Why Stem Cell Cream is Nothing More than a Publicity StuntStem cells only work when they are alive.

If they are added to lotions and creams, they will already be dead cells. And even if they are placed while they are alive, they will cease to be so after some time. After all, any living organism needs food and a certain atmosphere, which in the case of stem cells means that they must exist in a certain nutrient medium and be stored at a strictly defined temperature. Only by receiving all this, the cells will continue to live and renew. Stem cell creams cannot provide such conditions.

Argument number two: Stem cells cannot improve skin condition

Let's assume, after all, that someone managed to meet all the conditions for keeping stem cells alive. Why won't these cells work?

Those cells that are added to cosmetics are cells of plant origin. And as we found out, you can grow a living organism from stem cells. And in the case of stem cells of plants and fruits, only new plant and fruit cells can grow from them, but not skin cells! And new plant cells are unlikely to rejuvenate the skin.

You ask: and if human stem cells are added to the cream? Firstly, the ethical issue of using human cells has not yet been resolved. And secondly, if someone manages to do it, then a cream with human stem cells will be very expensive. And while manufacturers use apple or rice stem cells in creams, and they, as we found out, do not work.

Another argument and a serious doubtSome companies do not use stem cells themselves for creams, but peptides derived from stem cells.

And they claim that these components can work as stem cells and positively affect adult stem cells present in the skin. But that's not true.

The truth is that scientists today are really studying how peptides and other ingredients affect the skin's own stem cells. However, these studies are also at the very beginning of the journey. As a result, it is possible that some kind of drug may appear, but not cosmetic in any way.

What conclusionsIn general, we can say for sure that stem cell research is in an active stage, and sooner or later scientists will find a way to use them to rejuvenate the skin and fight premature aging.

But don't spend money on advertised creams with stem cells yet, effective remedies have not yet been invented.

The only advantage of such creams may be a high concentration of antioxidants, because plant stem cells can have an antioxidant effect. However, today there are many more accessible fighters against free radicals.
