Open Innovations – 2013: work program

Announcement of the main sections of the Moscow International Forum program
"Open Innovations" 2013

MSKIT.RUWithin the framework of the global discussion platform "Open Innovations", discussions, round tables and master classes dedicated to the latest achievements in the field of technological innovation will take place.

The theme of the Forum in 2013 is "Breakthrough Technologies: Architects of the Future are changing global markets". The discussion focuses on individual companies and innovators who, through the creation and implementation of breakthrough technologies, significantly change the "rules of the game" in global markets.

The first day of the Forum will open with two plenary sessions – "Architects of Future Technologies" and "Innovations in a Hyperconnected World: National Leadership Strategies". They will determine the directions of further discussions in various sections of the Program. Invited Russian and foreign experts will discuss how Game Changers and the breakthrough technologies they create are changing the global market, and how the main market players – the state, business, startups, investors, and the scientific community – can succeed in constantly changing conditions when old paradigms stop working.

What changes are needed in the education system to form a new generation of leaders of the XXI century? What are the prospects for the development of fundamental science? How to bring technology from the walls of the university to the market? The answers to these questions will be given by the experts of the section "Science and Education".

The Entrepreneurs section will host a master class on "How to become an entrepreneur: 24 steps to success", and well-known serial entrepreneurs will share their own experience of bringing new products to the market. What is a new "innovative type" of leadership, how to grow a "culture of innovation" in the company, how to involve not only employees, but also consumers in the creation of the final product and how to take risks "wisely" while doing innovative activities, will be described in the section "Strategies of innovative leadership".

The specifics of doing innovative business in modern conditions will be the subject of discussion in two sections of the program: "Capital for innovative business" and "Doing innovative business in Russia". The first section will include three panel discussions on the features and models of venture investment. In the second section, examples of building innovation clusters and issues of creating globally competitive regional economies will be considered.

In the Corporations section, the heads of leading international and Russian high-tech companies will talk about modern business competitiveness strategies in a dynamically changing global market, the most effective R&D management models in corporations, as well as how IT technologies restructure corporate business processes.

It will be possible to learn how to turn the crisis into a new source of growth and how to remain competitive in a hyper-connected world within the framework of the events of the track "Global Markets".

Within the framework of the International Partnership section, the official partner countries of the Forum, which in 2013 became Finland and France, together with Russia will discuss possible areas of international cooperation and interaction of national innovation systems in the integrated innovation space.

The second day of the Forum will be devoted to the application of technological innovations in the field of energy, city management, medicine, consumer goods, ICT, manufacturing and nanotechnology. The topics of the panel discussions will be determined by the morning plenary session "Breakthrough technologies as drivers of the global economy", at which the intellectual partner of the Forum – MIT Technological Review – will present a special study of the Forum – Emerging Themes Report, dedicated to the analysis of key technologies of the innovation market and those who create them.

Experts will tell about the latest achievements in the field of personalized oncology, genome and cell technology research, as well as about discoveries in the field of regenerative medicine and neuroscience in the section "Biomedicine and Pharmacology".

The dynamic growth of generated information, the spread of cloud computing and the large-scale penetration of information technologies into all spheres of life affect the economy, business and society as a whole. How are different industries changing under the influence of digital technologies? How to structure and make the right decisions based on the analysis of a large array of data? How to keep your data safe and protect innovations from cybercriminals? What are the opportunities and risks associated with the active spread of mobile technologies in a person's personal life? What is the "Internet of things"? What technological breakthroughs can be expected in the digital industry? The events of the sections "Digital Economy", "Mobile World" and "Medical Technologies" are devoted to these and many other issues.

The "New Global Energy Map" section will discuss global trends in the development of the energy industry, modern energy–efficient technologies, as well as the evolution of the hydrocarbon market, whether the world expects a new revolution and how the structure of the global energy market will change in the future - these are the key issues that the speakers will discuss during the events.

In the Smart City section, experts will discuss new approaches and tools in smart city management, the latest trends and technological solutions in the field of transport mobility and large-scale "digitalization" of urban space.

The experts of the "New Era of Production" section will consider how new digital technologies affect production processes, how to create the necessary product yourself without resorting to external auxiliary infrastructure, and what opportunities new generation robots open up.

The impact of nanotechnology on the energy sector, medicine, chemical and biotechnological industries, construction, optics and electronics, as well as the latest breakthrough discoveries in this area will be discussed by the participants of the section "Nanotechnology".

Innovation is not only production, but also the service sector. In the section "Consumer goods" it will be possible to learn about the latest technological innovations in the creation of "smart" clothes and shoes, innovations in the film industry and the media environment.
