Richard Kivel's Lecture for Technology Startups

"How to recognize the international potential of a startup"

On March 31 at 18.00 in the technopark "Digital October" (Moscow, Bersenevskaya Embankment, 6), an open lecture by Richard Kivel will take place. Its topic is the commercialization of technologies, the assessment of the international potential of a startup project, the search for partners abroad and, in general, the creation of an effective innovation ecosystem. All this is richly flavored with examples of successful and failed cases from the MIT 100K entrepreneurial competition.

Serial entrepreneur Richard Kivel is one of the best innovative managers in the world. With his participation, several successful companies in the field of IT and medicine (life sciences) were created. President of the MIT Enterprise Forum, senior lecturer at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he entered the list of "40 to 40" (the 40 most successful people in the United States under the age of 40) thanks to a series of successful biotech startups launched by him.

Richard is currently Chairman and CEO of Rhapsody Biologics, a vaccine development company with offices in the USA and Singapore. He created it in 2009, after his other company, the British pharmacogenetic diagnostics firm TheraGenetics, was acquired by a strategic investor. Even earlier, Richard headed the company that left MIT, MolecularWare, until it was also acquired in 2003.

Richard often lectures at MIT, works as a judge of the MIT $100K entrepreneurial competition. Therefore, he has a lot of "texture" on the topic of why the winning projects of the competition often do not become a super company, and the "unappreciated" ones, on the contrary, turn out to be very successful. In general, Richard will try to answer the question "What is the power, brother?" (Although the answer is known: "The power, brother, is in Newtons.")

Since this season, Richard Kivel has become chairman of the Supervisory board of the BIT entrepreneurial competition, which is based on the principles of the MIT 100K competition "native" to Kivel. Richard Kivel's performances were organized as part of the educational program of the BIT-2011 competition and with the support of a Russian venture company.

The lecture will be held in English with translation.
