Morpholino vs. "problem areas"
A means for rapid weight loss was tried on mice
The authors published the results of their research in the journal Molecular Therapy (Koganti et al., Disruption of K ATP channel expression in skeletal muscle by targeted oligonucleotide delivery promotes activity-linked thermogenesis), and they can be found briefly on the New Scientist website (Weight-loss injection helps rainbow mouse keep trim).
Morpholino, as explained by scientists, caused disturbances in the expression of genes controlling the synthesis of proteins responsible for energy conservation in the body. Local injections of this synthetic oligonucleotide lead to the fact that energy is consumed much faster in this place in the mouse than without them.

To demonstrate this effect, scientists injected morpholino into the left mouse foot. The red color in the image shows (in the animal on the right) that the energy in it is consumed much faster than in the foot of the mouse on the left, which has not been injected with this compound.
Scientists note that such local impacts can lead to the creation of an effective method of combating obesity in humans. In their opinion, in this case, there will be no need for long and exhausting workouts of the whole body, and it will be possible to lose weight by performing actions familiar to a person.
