Virtual reality is the best fit for niche use. For example, this technology is perfectly used in such areas as games, travel, education, watching movies, getting an unusual experience, industry, advertising, as well as medicine. In medicine, there is a great variety in the use of technology, starting with the training of doctors (for example, future surgeons can see the course of the operation as if they were next to a doctor or "cutting" the corpses of animals and people, more precisely, now you can see the structure in virtual reality instead). As for treatment, the possibilities are simply endless – treatment of post-traumatic disorder, overcoming fears, depression, fighting addictions and substance abuse, rehabilitation after injuries, care for the elderly, preparing the patient for surgery (to introduce him to the operation process so that he knows what to expect). Now there is another application in the piggy bank of experience – doctors use virtual reality technology to treat cancer patients.

Dr. Max Gomez said that virtual reality technology allows doctors to get inside a patient's cancer cells and accurately determine the cause of their occurrence. "I can zoom in on this protein structure and look at it," said Alex Sigaras, a research associate at Weill Cornell Medicine. "With the help of hand movements, I can rotate this model."

"What we do when using this type of treatment helps a person to remember more information from the history of the disease, which can then be processed and extinguish the main danger signals," said Dr. Joanne Difede.

As for the treatment of such a dangerous disease as cancer, the creators of this new technology use virtual reality in order to recreate a three-dimensional model of the genetic mutations occurring and study them in more detail. Other information about the patient, for example, MRI data, data from laboratory research methods can also be viewed in one convenient interface.

"Instead of just looking at digital data telling dry facts about how mutation occurs, you can see it in a more visual and colorful way," said Alex Sigaras.

Associate Professor Olivier Elemento, who also works at Weill Cornell Medicine, said that virtual reality can help doctors better understand how a mutation or a protein produced turns a cell into a cancerous tumor, which, in turn, will help them find a cure to achieve the goal in the best way.

"The doctor gets the opportunity to view all this information. It will be something like a special opinion," Olivier Elemento said. – Have you seen the movie where Tom Cruise looks through the information, puts it in place, supplements, etc. We're trying to do the same thing."

The main part of the information entering the human brain is carried by vision. People need to visualize everything. They should see the protein or mutations. This will allow researchers to understand the nature of the disease and develop a drug for the treatment of cancer and related conditions.

Such virtual reality technology may soon become available to other doctors. At the same time, it will be able to be used equally from anywhere in the world. Thus, it will be possible to carry out joint treatment by doctors from different countries. At the same time, the patient will not need to fly from one country to another. He will receive advice from highly qualified doctors on the spot. If it goes on stream, it will be a real breakthrough in the world of medicine, which will help treat the most severe cases and share experience with foreign colleagues.

In addition, interesting cases can be saved and collected into a database for teaching students of medical higher educational institutions. They will be able to see with illustrative examples what is happening inside the patient's body. This will help them become good specialists in a shorter time.

Visualization using virtual reality technology allows you to better understand how the human body works. Here it is possible to use this technology for the treatment of other conditions. At the same time, the costs for the medical sector for this equipment are not so great. They will pay off and reduce the cost of medical services, making them more accessible. Another thing is for clinics to want to use such technology.
