A brief encyclopedia of anti-aging

Anti-age therapy: all rejuvenation procedures

MedikForumAnti-aging, or anti-aging medicine includes a large number of procedures aimed at rejuvenation of the face and body.

The concept of "anti-age" is very voluminous and considers the fight against aging in a complex way: psychological trainings, yoga classes, regular visits to a cosmetologist and dietary nutrition – all this is also "antiage", if with their help a person can stay young for a long time.

History of the anti-age directionAlthough anti-age has been formed relatively recently as a separate direction in medicine, the tradition of cultivating youth is very ancient.

The desire for rejuvenation has been inherent in women since the dawn of civilization. Egyptian Queen Cleopatra sought youthfulness of the body with the help of a special scrub: 300 grams of sea salt was mixed with half a cup of cream and rubbed into her skin for ten minutes, and then washed off with warm water.

In the 2-3 century AD, the first beauty salons appeared in Greece, which were called "gynecaea". There were healers who knew the recipes of all kinds of skin care products. So, cow placenta was recommended for smoothness of the skin, bovine bile – from pigmented spots on the face, and for dermatitis, an extract from calf genitals should be used. The ancient Romans were able to get rid of wrinkles with the help of astringent mixtures, as well as donkey milk.

The final stage of the ancient Russian rejuvenation procedure is VM :)

The knowledge and experience accumulated over many centuries undoubtedly have a connection with modern anti-aging therapy. But, first of all, its creation was facilitated by the powerful development of medicine and cosmetology. Advanced technologies and equipment came to the aid of specialists. All this together formed an entire industry to combat aging, in which everything was at the service of a person, from face masks to the latest hardware techniques for rejuvenation at the molecular level.

How anti-age aroseIn the mid-80s of the last century, the American scientist Klots Ronald, who put forward the idea that aging is a disease and can be treated, proposed the term "anti–age".

In the 90s, the anti-age sphere took shape as a separate specialization of medicine. It has quickly developed into one of the most modern clinical medical industries. Nowadays, anti-aging medicine is based on advanced achievements in the field of genetics, endocrinology, oncology, immunology, dietetics, nutrition, therapy, cosmetology and other related disciplines.

What anti-age includesThere are two powerful directions in antiaging:

Aesthetic medicine. It includes the entire set of procedures for external rejuvenation: these are peels, facial contouring, various cosmetic lifts, contoured liposuction of the body, massages using specialized lotions, creams and gels, which include biologically active substances, manual procedures, hardware cosmetology.

Internal rejuvenation. Specialists in this field work primarily with metabolism: they help to normalize it and make it more active, which helps the body to get rid of old, dead cells faster. There are also techniques in this area that allow influencing the aging process at the genetic level – injections with stem cells that inhibit the action of aging genes. (We leave this stupidity on the conscience of the anonymous author of the article – VM.) In addition, nutritionists work on internal rejuvenation. They develop special individual diets that completely change the body, setting it up for an active life.

In addition, experts from other fields are involved in anti-aging therapy: psychology, dermatocosmetology, immunology, and others.

Anti-age medicine: facial rejuvenation proceduresInjection techniques

BOTOX, DISPORT.

Injections of these drugs are used to relax overactive muscles, which leads to the formation of wrinkles and wrinkles on the skin. With their help, you can get rid of such unpleasant consequences of age as horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, "crow's feet" at the outer corner of the eyes, vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, oblique wrinkles on the sides of the bridge of the nose and on the back of the nose (anger wrinkles). Botox also helps to solve the problem of excessive sweating of the palms, armpits and feet.

The procedure lasts about 3-5 minutes: botox is injected with a thin needle into certain muscles on the face. Anesthesia is not required – the skin is cooled with ice for 10-15 minutes. To achieve the full effect, it usually takes from three to seven days, while its duration is from four to six months, after which a second injection is necessary. But due to the fact that the muscles that cause wrinkles get used to a new relaxed state, the wrinkles that appear again are less serious.

MESOTHERAPY. The main causes of wrinkles are the activity of facial muscles and a decrease in elasticity and firmness of the skin. Therefore, measures to eliminate wrinkles should affect the elasticity of the skin (collagen fibers are responsible for it) – and its elasticity (depends on the level of hyaluronic acid). Mesotherapy is one of the methods of correction of wrinkles, both pathological and age-related. Its essence is to saturate the skin with all the necessary trace elements and vitamins by introducing special cocktails, selected taking into account the individual characteristics of the body. As a result, wrinkles are smoothed out, and the skin regains its former elasticity. However, this effect is achieved not only due to the effect of useful substances on the skin, but also as a result of mechanical stimulation of the dermis (skin) by numerous injections that increase the regenerative resources of the body.

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure, its duration is from 15 minutes to an hour. It is especially effective in the treatment of acne, hyperpigmentation, age-related skin changes, local fat deposits and cellulite, scars, striae (stretch marks), rosacea (dilated vessels and "stars"), as well as problems with hair and seborrhea.

BIOREVITALIZATION. This is one of the most effective types of mesotherapy, designed for fading and dehydrated skin. It allows you to restore skin tone, its firmness and elasticity, as well as achieve a color that is inherent only in young and healthy skin. In fact, biorevitalization is the introduction of hyaluronic acid by intradermal injections to restore the water balance of the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is the most important component of our skin, which recreates the conditions ideal for the vital activity of cells. With its loss, aging begins, and biorevitalization seems to turn back time, improving the health of the skin and promotes its rejuvenation by restoring its own properties. The procedure is recommended for such cosmetic skin defects as dehydration, lethargy, the presence of facial wrinkles, unhealthy complexion or pigmentation.

CONTOUR PLASTIC. A system of injection procedures, the result of which is facial rejuvenation. The essence of contouring is that preparations based on hyaluronic acid are injected under the skin, giving an almost instant lifting effect. A contouring session lasts no more than an hour, on average – 30-40 minutes. It is carried out under local anesthesia or with the use of immobilizing ointments. Sensations are largely determined by the place where the drug is injected (the most painful areas around the lips and nose).

Among the preparations of contouring:

  • Restylane. Thanks to injections, shallow wrinkles on the forehead, facial meshes around the eyes and transverse wrinkles that form with age over the upper lip disappear. The skin after this procedure looks elastic and young: the effect lasts from 8 to 12 months.
  • Perline (Perlaine) is a biogel of a denser structure, penetrates into the deep layers of the dermis and resolves more slowly. It is resorted to when it is necessary to smooth out large wrinkles on the face and there is a need to correct the cheekbones and chin, the oval of the face. The effect of injections with perline can last up to two years.
  • Juvederm (Juvederm). It contains the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. Juviderm is used to fill nasolabial folds and deep wrinkles on the forehead, as well as when it comes to eyelid surgery and facial oval correction. The effectiveness of the drug lasts from six months to 10 months.
  • Surgiderm (Surgiderm). Cosmetologists recommend it to patients who need to correct the asymmetry of facial features that has become obvious, as well as external defects that have manifested due to age. The beauty and youthfulness of the skin as a result of surzhiderm injections are preserved for a year.

Hardware techniquesMICROCURRENT THERAPY is a complex method of influencing the body with modulated pulses of electric current of ultra–small amplitude.

Microcurrents improve cellular metabolism, restore the physiological activity of damaged cells, blood microcirculation and lymph exchange. The use of microcurrent therapy is an excellent means of preventing skin aging and the formation of wrinkles. At the same time, the procedures themselves have a pleasant relaxing effect and are safe.

Microcurrent therapy will be useful in the presence of such problems as facial skin swelling, age-related dryness, oily skin, dry skin, vulgar and pink acne, pigmentation and scars, cellulite.

ULTRASONIC PEELING. It is carried out using ultrasound acting on the surface layer of the epidermis, mainly to eliminate scars and wrinkles. The laser does not affect the entire surface of the skin, but only on scars and wrinkles, which leads to skin renewal in these places.

Ultrasound peeling is done under local or general anesthesia; after such peeling, approximately 10-day treatment is required, so it is carried out inpatient.

LASER SKIN REJUVENATION (FRAXEL). Fractional photothermolysis procedures consist of exposure to a laser beam on the deep and superficial layers of the skin. As a result, the collagen-elastin framework of the skin is renewed, its damaged areas are restored. Laser rejuvenation is a solution to problems such as age spots, wrinkles and scars on the skin, the effects of acne, stretch marks and cellulite. Moreover, it is considered more effective than conventional laser resurfacing: many cosmetic appearance flaws can be corrected in one session. The procedure lasts 20-30 minutes with the use of anesthesia. At the same time, the laser can be used on delicate areas (hands, neck, neck, eyelids) and for all skin types, regardless of its color, thickness and sensitivity.

PHOTO REJUVENATION provides its effect with light exposure, for which devices of intense pulsating radiation or invisible infrared radiation are used. This procedure is very effective in combating all known wrinkles – nasolabial folds, "crow's feet", wrinkles on the forehead and around the lips. After skin rejuvenation, the active synthesis of collagen and elastin is triggered: the skin acquires a healthy color, becomes elastic, smooth, and a tension effect occurs. This procedure is ideal for the treatment of dilated vascular network, redness, pink acne, pigmentation and other age-related changes.

THERMAGE. This rejuvenation method is considered an alternative to surgical facelift. During thermage, the deep layers of the skin are stimulated, for which a device with a radio frequency signal is used. The essence of the procedure is that it causes heating of deep structures, thus activating fibroblasts – cells that produce collagen and elastin. Thermage is recommended for age-related skin changes with the appearance of its excess, visible wrinkles and folds, with increased porosity of the skin and cellulite.

The peculiarity of thermage is that it is produced once. Its effect gradually develops over several months.

Innovative methodsPLASMOLIFTING is an autologous cellular rejuvenation procedure: the patient's platelet–rich plasma is injected into the skin.

Being the liquid part of the blood, plasma contains vitamins, enzymes, proteins, hormones and other active substances that have a powerful rejuvenating effect. After the introduction of plasma concentrate into the skin, the mechanisms of rejuvenation and recovery are triggered: metabolic processes improve, skin cells begin to actively divide, the synthesis of collagen and hyaluronic acid increases.

The technology of the procedure is no different from traditional mesotherapy: the skin is treated with an antiseptic, an analgesic cream is applied if necessary, a series of injections are carried out using very thin mesotherapy needles, then the skin is treated with an antiseptic again and a soothing serum is applied. Plasmolifting is recommended in cases of loss of skin elasticity, for the treatment of acne and scars and for rapid skin recovery after exposure to aggressive environmental factors and cosmetic procedures.

SPRS THERAPY. It allows to achieve skin rejuvenation at the cellular level and not only corrects visual defects of the skin, but also restores it at the microtexture level. To do this, their own fibroblasts are injected into the skin – doctors prepare a drug that contains them, taking into account the individual characteristics of the skin.

SPRS therapy consists of several diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The fibroblast-containing drug is injected intradermally. As a result, the number of active fibroblasts in the dermis increases, which enhances the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, activates the natural processes of skin renewal. Previously, the skin is examined at the microtexture level, and according to the results of the diagnosis, the patient receives a skin Passport, where all individual characteristics are recorded, as well as detailed information on the rejuvenation program and recommendations.
