Active generation

Within the framework of the "Society for the Older Generation" program, the Ladoga Foundation supports open contests of social projects aimed at involving older people in active participation in the life of local communities.

The competition "Active Generation" is an annual one, in 2013 it will be held for the second time. During the first year of its implementation, the fund supported 68 projects totaling 5 million rubles in 4 regions of Russia (Ivanovo Region, Arkhangelsk, Karelia, St. Petersburg).

The overall goal of the competition is to support civic initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly people. The important objectives of the competition are: to attract public attention to the problems of older people and to solve them; to create conditions for successful socialization and adaptation of older people to the realities of the modern world; to maintain a sense of demand in older people; to encourage the active position of older people in the development of local self-government and in solving the problems of the local community; to strengthen the connection of generations.

This year, projects in the following areas will be considered:

• Raising awareness and legal literacy of the elderly, providing legal protection and assistance to elderly citizens;
• Organization of activities in the field of physical culture and mass sports, prevention and health protection of elderly citizens, as well as promotion of a healthy lifestyle;
• Social and professional adaptation of the elderly, including education and retraining of elderly citizens;
• Interaction between generations, activation of the participation of older people in the professional, spiritual and physical education of children and youth;
• Strengthening the institution of the family, maintaining a favorable microclimate in the family, reviving and maintaining family values and traditions, transferring the experience of the elders to the younger ones.
• Development of entrepreneurship skills among the elderly.
• Formation of a culture of attitude towards the elderly in society as a resource for social development.
