For loyalty to science

Representatives of the media and popularizers of science were awarded the prize "For loyalty to Science"

On February 10, the first presentation of the award "For Loyalty to Science" took place in the Hall of Columns of the House of Unions.

Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the ceremony.

"Today we are presenting a new award: everyone is used to scientists being honored on Science Day, but today scientists and experts will award representatives of the scientific media – those who have done a lot for domestic science and its popularization," the head of the department noted in his speech.

Concluding his speech, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia presented the first star-statuette "For loyalty to Science": it went to the founder of the Dynasty Foundation Dmitry Zimin. The Minister noted that the philanthropist has been selflessly supporting fundamental science and education for many years, thereby contributing to the creation of an effective working environment for scientists.

The winner in the nomination "Popularizer of the Year" was announced by the head of the FANO Mikhail Kotyukov. A paleontologist, author of the book "Evolution. Classical ideas in the light of new discoveries" Alexander Markov.

The awards "For Loyalty to Science" were also awarded in the following categories:

  • "The best TV program about science" – the program "Academia" on the TV channel "Culture";
  • "The best print media about science" – the newspaper "Troitsky variant – Science";
  • "The best Internet project about science" — Postnauka website;
  • "The best popular science project of the year" - the museum "Experimentanium".

The anti-award for the dissemination of pseudoscientific information" went to the corresponding documentary projects of the REN-TV channel. This was announced by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University Elena Vartanova.

The guests of the award ceremony "For Loyalty to Science" were addressed by famous Russian actors: Valentin Gaft, Alexander Filipenko, Irina Miroshnichenko, Valery Barinov, as well as the symphony orchestra "New Russia" (conductor – Igor Razumovsky) and the ballet "Moscow". The "Anthem of Science" (composer Pyotr Karmanov) was written especially for the ceremony.

The ceremony was conducted by Daria Moroz and Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich.

The selection of nominees for the award "For Loyalty to Science" was carried out not only by representatives of the media community, but also by scientists.
The Organizing Committee, chaired by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specialist in the field of information technology and mathematical modeling Alexander Kuleshov, formed the composition of the Expert Council, which included well-known scientists, honored scientific journalists and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
