On the territory of Russia, Siemens Healthineers has also been participating in large-scale projects for the centralization of laboratory services and automation of centralized laboratories for a long time and productively. Among the implemented projects are particularly significant: centralization of the laboratory service of Moscow, automation of the Interdistrict Centralized Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory of St. Petersburg State Medical Institution "City Polyclinic No. 107" of St. Petersburg, centralization projects in Omsk and Volgograd.

Within the framework of the Moscow laboratory service centralization program implemented on the basis of the five largest laboratories of the city, in 2012-2015 it was possible to reduce the number of laboratories from 336 to 109, six of which are automated using the Siemens Healthineers track solution. The direct economic effect achieved as a result of centralization exceeded 1.5 billion rubles over the year.

In 2016, a successful project was implemented in the Interdistrict Centralized Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory of St. Petersburg State Medical Institution "City Polyclinic No. 107", serving 1.5 million people. It was decided to replace the existing capacities with a technological solution from Siemens Healthineers. As a result, the laboratory service achieved a 7.5% reduction in the cost of research performed, a 34% increase in labor productivity, and an 8% increase in the range of services performed.

"Modern clinical laboratory diagnostics is characterized by an increase in the number of tests performed, the complexity of research methods and the tendency to maximize the automation of processes. Today, centralization, that is, the concentration of research in large well–equipped laboratories, is a global trend, one of the methods of increasing the efficiency of the laboratory service and the healthcare system. In combination with innovative medical and information technologies, centralization makes it possible to solve the main tasks as efficiently as possible: improving the quality of research and reducing the cost of laboratory service. Siemens Healthineers offers a balanced combination of scientific methods, technological solutions and practical experience that allows us to provide patients with better, personalized medical care," commented Svetlana Gerbel, CEO of Siemens Healthineers in Russia and Central Asia.
