The 86-year-old gymnast, despite her advanced age, broke a storm of applause, surprising the audience with the performance of complex somersaults on the uneven bars. Even in her youth, Kaas played in one of the strongest handball teams of the GDR. She began to master gymnastic equipment only at the age of 30.
