Gastroenterologist told what foods categorically can not eat for breakfast

Not all foods are safe to eat on an empty stomach. First of all, this category includes white flour products and sweets. Fast carbohydrates are easily digested, this leads to a sharp increase in blood glucose levels and increased insulin production. The addition of trans fats found in margarine and sugar in baked goods can cause irritation of the gastric mucosa.

The consumption of bread, pasta, and baked goods puts a strain on the gastrointestinal organs - stomach, intestines, and pancreas - and can negatively affect the digestion process. Such a breakfast is particularly dangerous for people with diabetes and insulin resistance.

Unpleasant sensations can also be caused by drinking coffee on an empty stomach. It causes an increase in the production of hydrochloric acid and can cause heartburn and nausea. It is better to drink coffee some time after a meal. It is also recommended to eat fresh fruits and vegetables after meals to avoid mechanical irritation of the walls of an empty stomach.

If you eat fruits and berries on an empty stomach, there may be negative consequences for the stomach in the form of irritation of the mucous membrane, heartburn, gastritis, ulcers or allergic reactions.

In addition, it is not recommended on an empty stomach to eat sandwiches with lightly processed meat: sausage and bacon, because the body will be difficult to digest a large amount of saturated fat. Ready-made porridge or breakfast cereals are also bad for consumption on an empty stomach. Unlike natural oat flakes, such products do not contain useful fiber for the body.

According to the expert, for breakfast is best suited products containing complex carbohydrates, such as oatmeal, buckwheat, millet and other porridges. Protein can be obtained by eating eggs, dairy products, fish and lean meat.
