How to get rid of diabetes without medication

Tomsk scientists have published the results of a large-scale experiment to find ways to effectively reduce blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. They managed to find a non-medicamentous way of treating the insidious disease.

Three hundred laboratory mice were involved in the study. The animals got rid of diabetes with the help of "physical training" with which they were loaded by experts, and the time correctly selected for this purpose.

- Patients with type 2 diabetes have impaired sugar transport to the muscles, where it is utilized, - explains the head of the project, head of the Department of Sports and Recreational Tourism, Sports Physiology and Medicine of the Faculty of Physical Education of TSU Leonid Kapilevich.

Usually the condition of such patients is corrected mainly due to strict diet and medications. Physical activity gives a certain result. But the scientists asked themselves a question: at what time training for diabetics is especially effective?

In the laboratory, mice were specially fed caloric food with increased amounts of fat and carbohydrates - lard, nuts, condensed milk and other treats. It is such an imbalance in nutrition in combination with sedentary lifestyle often leads to the development of metabolic syndrome in humans - say the researchers.

And then the rodents began to be forced to "exercise": at one of the Tomsk enterprises designed special running simulators. Mice of different ages made daily runs for 40 minutes - but at different times. One of the groups did not "train" at all. A control group of absolutely healthy tails also participated in the runs.

Researchers evaluated weight changes in animals, the rate of decrease in blood glucose levels, analyzed proteins and enzymes directly involved in the process of sugar utilization in muscles. The analysis showed that the effect of exercise for mice with a nocturnal lifestyle is more pronounced in the morning. Consequently, exercise is maximally beneficial for the body when it is already set to rest.

- If we extrapolate the obtained data to a person leading a daytime lifestyle, it is better to train in the evening, - explains Leonid Kapilevich.

In the course of the experiment it was also noted that during the formation of diabetes in mice significantly reduced production of protein Glut 4, responsible for the process of glucose transfer to muscle cells, in which sugar is processed. However, after regular exercise, its content was restored by 70-80 percent. The process of muscle processing of glucose was started again, and the rodents recovered.

This suggests that exercise works not as an auxiliary, but as a key mechanism that directly affects the pathogenesis of diabetes, scientists say. Therefore, competently selected physical activity at the right time can improve the human condition, reduce the concentration of glucose in the blood and, accordingly, reduce the dose or amount of drugs taken.
