A dangerous change immediately after drinking is a harbinger of imminent death

Sudden heart palpitations after drinking alcohol or the day after a celebration is an alarming sign. It can warn of a dangerous syndrome fraught with complications - up to a massive stroke.

As noted cardiologist, cardiovascular surgeon Alexei Utin, heart rhythm disturbance that occurs after excessive alcohol consumption is also called "holiday heart syndrome" (HFS). In this case, the disorder is most often an attack of atrial fibrillation. Often patients describe the manifestations of the syndrome as feeling as if the heart is "jumping out of the chest."
"At the same time, a person with AFS can feel sharp weakness, shortness of breath, sometimes chest pain. The main complication of atrial fibrillation is the formation of a thrombus in the atrium," the specialist emphasized, adding that with such symptoms it is necessary "to call an ambulance as soon as possible."

Utin noted that unpleasant changes are sometimes recorded the next night or the next day after libations. "For example, on the morning of an already heavy Monday," the doctor specified.

Cardiologist Tamaz Gagloshvili added that even small portions of alcohol can provoke the development of arrhythmia. Alcohol does stimulate this dangerous process, the specialist confirmed.

"If you notice that after taking alcohol, even a small dose, extrasystoles appear, then it is better to completely exclude alcohol from your life," the doctor warned.
