$1 billion for Russian startups from Russian business angels

IA UNOVA MediaOn April 23-24, 2012, the XII Annual Congress of the European Association of Business Angels (EABA) was held.

This year, the Congress was held in Moscow for the first time and gathered more than 400 representatives of leading Russian and international associations of business angels, seed funds, service providers, public authorities and state development institutions.

The opening of the Annual Congress of Business Angels was attended by Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Management Board of RUSNANO, Brigitte Baumann, President of the EABA, and the President of the National Association of Business Angels of Russia (NABA) Konstantin Fokin. A press briefing was organized especially for media representatives.

In his speech at the opening of the Congress, Konstantin Fokin, President of NABA, stressed that the EABA Congress is a great opportunity for all business angels to see each other and become visible to society.

"Every year, business angels invest about $ 100 billion in young businesses around the world," Fokin said, "this is 90% of all investments at an early stage of company development. The presence of an angel investor in a startup increases the probability of success of the company by 4 times. Our common task is to make sure that the volume of investments in Russian companies from Russian angel investors in 3-5 years will amount to $ 1 billion."
