A microwave oven will help with premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation was suggested to be treated with microwave heatingCopper news
American scientists have proposed to treat premature ejaculation by warming the sensitive nerve of the penis with radio waves, Fox News reports (Premature Ejaculation Could Be Treated With 'Heat Therapy').

Researchers from the Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, have developed a technique of neurothermal modulation under the control of computed tomography (CT). It affects the dorsal nerve of the penis, which ensures the sensitivity of this organ.

During treatment, a thin electrode connected to a high-frequency radio wave generator is brought to the nerve under CT control. When the electrode is installed, periodic pulses of microwave radiation are fed through it, heating the nerve, which makes it difficult to conduct along it and, as a result, reduces the sensitivity of the penis.

Scientists plan to start testing the new technique in March 2011. 22 volunteers will take part in the first stage of the study. According to the head of development David Prologo, such an approach to the treatment of premature ejaculation is being used for the first time.

Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual disorder: according to various data, it affects from 20 to 38 percent of men. Existing treatment methods include the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (in particular, dapoxetine), local use of anesthetics and behavioral therapy.
