A serial killer named Fast Food

Fast food was recognized as the cause of death of 40 thousand Britons a yearCopper news
About 40,000 Britons die every year as a result of eating fast food and other unhealthy foods.

These data were published by the National Institute of Health and Quality of Care in the UK (NICE), reports the BBC (NHS watchdog NICE calls for trans-fats ban in foods).

According to NICE, diseases of the cardiovascular system are the leading cause of death in the UK. About 150 thousand Britons die from these diseases every year. However, NICE experts believe that about 40,000 of these deaths can be prevented by improving the quality of food consumed by Britons.

In this regard, experts recommended reducing the content of salt and saturated fats, as well as prohibiting the use of so-called trans fats (fats that contain trans isomers of fatty acids) in food. According to the recommendations, the cost of products with a reduced salt content should be reduced, including through subsidies.

In addition, NICE experts suggested labeling food products in red, yellow or green, depending on the level of harmful substances in them. The report notes that a week earlier a similar proposal was rejected by the European Parliament.
