An ordinary miracle of genetics

On December 14, Denis Rebrikov, an outstanding scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, specialist in the field of molecular genetics, will give a speech at the Central House of the Journalist. The topic of the lecture: "An ordinary miracle of genetics".

Shortly before the speech, the scientist answered several questions "Polit.ru" and told what molecular genetics studies:

"Today, the understanding of the principles of the organization of living systems lies in the field of molecular genetics. Biotechnologies are rapidly coming out on top in terms of investment attractiveness and relevance for modern humanity. Cloning of living beings, changing the program of development of living systems (the abolition of the element of aging), genetic planning of the qualities of the unborn child, genetic modifications of living systems are technologies that fundamentally change the worldview and mentality of modern man."

"Such consequences of the development of biotechnologies as genetic discrimination and genetic selection of people, cloning of people are actively being worked out by politicians and the world scientific community, but they have almost no access to the public level of discussion."

Denis Rebrikov also said that during the lecture he would reveal some of the possibilities of modern genetic technologies, as well as point out the most problematic areas of the mutual influence of scientific progress and the worldview of modern Homo sapiens.

Denis Rebrikov's speech will take place on December 14 at the Central House of the journalist at the address: M. Arbatskaya, Nikitsky Boulevard, 8a. It starts at 19:00.
