Are we not afraid of bird flu?

Two vaccines against avian influenza virus have been developed in Russia

Alexandra Dementieva, RIA AMI

The Federal Center for Animal Health Protection has developed and registered two unique drugs against the low-pathogenic avian influenza virus of the H9 subtype.

One vaccine is a homogeneous white emulsion containing an inactivated avian influenza virus of the H9 subtype. The vaccine causes the formation of immunity 28 days after a single application lasting at least 9 months.

The second vaccine forms immunity from two economically significant diseases at once – against avian influenza (H9N2) and Newcastle disease. This vaccine also develops immunity after 28 days and lasts at least 9 months.

Over the past decade, the H9N2 low-pathogenic avian influenza virus has spread widely in the world, especially in the Far and Middle East. The virus causes serious economic damage. Many countries carry out preventive immunization.
