Scientists have proven the benefits of aspirin in the fight against cancer

RIA News

Scientists from the Norswell Health Hospital in Huntington (USA) have proven that daily use of small doses of aspirin reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. This is reported by Medicalexpress (Daily low-dose aspirin may be a weapon against ovarian cancer).

In the course of the work, the specialists studied the data obtained as a result of 13 studies. In total, more than 750 thousand women took part in them. Doctors, in particular, were interested in how often they used aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (for example, ibuprofen and naproxen).

Scientists have found out that daily use of aspirin in small quantities reduces the risk of ovarian cancer by ten percent.

"The results confirm that aspirin can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, but before recommending it for daily use, a number of studies need to be conducted," said Shelly Tuoroger, one of the authors of the scientific paper.

In another study conducted by researchers at the University of Hawaii at Honolulu and the Moffitt Center, scientists found that women taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs have a 30 percent higher survival rate if they are diagnosed with cancer.
