Laureates of the UNESCO L'Oreal Prize "For Women in Science" were named in Paris

The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the UNESCO L'Oreal Prize "For Women in Science" was held in the French capital. This year, Carol Robinson, a British chemist from Oxford, was awarded the Grand Prix for her research in the field of membrane proteins.

Other laureates include organic chemistry specialist from China and Hsieh, physicist–astronomer from Brazil Taisa Storchi, as well as polymer chemistry specialist Molly Shoichet from Canada and Moroccan Rajaa Sherkaoui el-Mursil, who works in the field of nuclear physics and high-energy physics. They were given grants for 100 thousand dollars. In addition, this year the jury of the award decided to allocate additional scholarships to 15 young women scientists who have achieved a doctorate and have previously become laureates of L'Oreal-UNESCO.

The award has been in existence for 17 years and is the result of cooperation between the French cosmetics company L'Oreal and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The award is intended to promote scientific activity among women.
