The events are held in the Moscow Government Building.
Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing areas of high technology. The peculiarity of biotechnology, in addition to its high economic potential, is its powerful impact on the quality of life of the population through new medicines, medical bionanotechnologies and food products. The role of biotechnology in national security should still not be underestimated, bearing in mind the role of vital pharmaceuticals (vaccines, insulin), food security and the continuing danger of bioterrorism, as well as the use of the use of microbiological weapons.
The organizers of the Congress and exhibition are the Government of Moscow, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Science and Innovation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Chemical Society named after D. I. Mendeleev, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The main topics for discussion at the international congress are: assessment of the current state of biotechnological research, including in medicine, and their practical application in healthcare both abroad and in Russia; new technologies for the production of medicines and diagnostics using biotechnology methods; bioinformatics, nanobiotechnology, genetic engineering, development of new dosage forms, alternative energy sources and much more.
The Congress will allow discussing the use of drugs obtained by biotechnology methods in various areas of medicine: oncology, infectious diseases, immunology, virology, cardiology, endocrinology and other fields. Therefore, special attention is paid to this section — "Biotechnology and Medicine". Its work will take place for five days in parallel with other sections. It is planned not only to discuss the fundamental aspects of diagnostic problems, but also to familiarize the congress participants with practical achievements in these areas.
On the first day of work, the section "Biogeotechnology" was held and the work of the section "Biotechnology and Medicine" began.
