According to him, for the test, the tick is placed with a fork in a cylinder, where it is ground between the washer and the piston. Next, a few drops of water are added to the cylinder, after which the resulting mixture is squeezed onto a test strip.
"The strip is similar to a pregnancy test: the appearance of the first strip means the correctness of the test, the appearance of the second – the presence of encephalitis, the third – the presence of Lyme disease," the interlocutor explained.
At the same time, he stressed that conducting an express test does not exempt from visiting a seroprophylaxis point, where even a ground tick will be suitable for a full-fledged analysis. "The express test is being created for hunters, travelers and everyone who happens to be in the forest," Myagkov said.
According to him, the developers have not found analogues of the test in Russia. "There is a similar device in Poland, but there the system of grinding the tick is open, using a toothpick, so Rospotrebnadzor banned their sale in our country. In addition, their system costs 15 euros, and ours costs 100 rubles," the source said.
He noted that in the current season, developers will test one thousand devices, after which they plan to get permission for production and sale. "We assume that the express test will go on sale in 2014," Myagkov added.
