Counterfeiters

Mikhail Kalmatsky, Novye IzvestiaThe most counterfeited drugs in Europe are Viagra, antidepressants and hormonal drugs, Ruth Mosimann, a representative of the Swiss medical industry, said at a press conference of the European Directorate for Drug Control on Thursday.

Our "craftsmen", as it turned out, have other priorities.

The Council of Europe clarified that about 1% of the total turnover of medicines are fake today. This is where control is established, "and in countries where such a system does not exist, the percentage of counterfeit medicines can reach up to 50%."

"Five years ago, Roszdravnadzor was established in our country, and serious work began on countering counterfeit medicines," Gennady Shirshov, executive director of the Union of Professional Pharmaceutical Organizations, told NI about the situation in the Russian Federation. "Since then, the number of counterfeit names has decreased seven times, as of May this year, only 18 out of 17 thousand medicines registered in Russia are being forged."

In Europe, according to Western experts, expensive medicines are most often forged, and this "rule" applies in all countries. In Russia, according to Mr. Shirshov, medicines are forged according to the principle of popularity - those that are in great demand are chosen. We also have expensive counterfeit medicines, but they usually come from abroad and in small quantities.

The group of the most counterfeit medicines in Russia is also very different from the European one. Instead of antidepressants and hormonal drugs, antibiotics, painkillers and drugs for the gastrointestinal tract are used in our "left" production. In total, according to Roszdravnadzor, the internal affairs bodies annually withdraw from circulation falsified and substandard medicines in the amount of 4-5 million rubles.
