Development of a new method for the diagnosis of blood clotting disorders

The press service of RUSNANO informs that on April 23, 2010, an investment agreement and an agreement on the exercise of the rights of participants were signed in relation to the limited liability company "Hematology Corporation" ("HemaCor") under the project "Development of a new method for diagnosing blood clotting disorders".

The project is implemented by the project company LLC "GemaKor", whose participants are LLC "Medical Innovations", representing the author's team of the project, and financial investors: RUSNANO and Sberbank Capital.

In accordance with the terms of the investment agreement, the project is financed through a contribution to the authorized capital of GEMAKOR in several stages for a total amount of 545 million rubles and a loan in the amount of 95 million rubles.

The Supervisory Board of RUSNANO approved the Corporation's participation in the project on September 1, 2009. The project provides for the creation of unique diagnostic devices that can detect disorders of the blood coagulation system.

One universal test will allow you to diagnose both an insufficient level of activity of the blood clotting system (hemophilia) and an excessive level of clotting, leading to diseases such as thrombosis and thromboembolism (blockage of a vessel by a detached thrombus).

In developed countries, thromboembolism, leading to heart attacks and strokes, is one of the main causes of disability and mortality. Currently, the problem of correct diagnosis of blood clotting (hemostasis) is acute all over the world, since even conducting a dozen different tests does not give an exhaustive picture. The proposed effective and inexpensive method claims to solve the problem of hemostasis diagnosis.

It is assumed that the serial production of diagnostic equipment and disposable test systems will begin no later than September 2012.
