Did not survive the crisis

Mortality is steadily increasing in Russia

Arina Lvova, news service "URA.Ru "

In the Russian Federation, mortality increased in the first seven months of 2015 compared to the same period last year. Evgeny Andreev, an employee of the Center for Demographic Research of the Russian School of Economics, said that the statistics are sad, but perhaps will not affect life expectancy.

"Now we have data on the number of registered deaths for seven months of this year. According to my calculations (I counted without the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol), in seven months the number of deaths increased by 1.7 percent compared to the same period in 2014," TASS quoted Andreev as saying at the round table "Mortality in the Russian Federation: the ratio of medical and non–medical factors."

He explained that such a mortality rate is "overlapped by a change in the age composition of the population." Therefore, life expectancy in the country should not decrease, but may increase slightly due to a decrease in infant mortality.
