Doctors and pharmacists will not be out of work

Pharmaceutical market specialists are among the ten most scarce professions according to HeadHunterElena Grigorieva, Farmvestnik

Medical representatives, product managers (working in medicine and pharmacy), pharmacists/pharmacists, as well as doctors are included in the list of the most scarce specialties in the HeadHunter recruiting company rating.

Despite the significant changes that have occurred in the labor market recently, medical and pharmaceutical specialists can be sure that they are not in danger of unemployment, says Yuri Virovets, president of the HeadHunter group of companies. According to him, the shortage of specialists, which was so much talked about in 2007 and early 2008, was replaced by an excess of candidates and a reduction in the number of vacancies. The growth of salaries has stopped, and in some specialties there is a decrease in the size of average salaries. In October-November, the number of vacancies published weekly was only 25-40% of the August level. And the number of weekly incoming resumes has increased. For example, in the professional field of "administrative personnel" the number of resumes increased by 30-60% compared to August, in the banking sector – by 15-20%, in the field of personnel management – by 20-40%.

The picture in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals is more optimistic – there is a significant increase in vacancies. For the first time during the calculation, HH analysts recorded the inclusion of medical and pharmaceutical specialties in the rating of the most scarce professions on the market. In particular, if in February 2008 medical representatives were in the ranking only on the 26th place, then in November 2008 they rose to 5th place, product managers (medicine and pharmacy) took 8th place (in February 2008 – 29th place), pharmacists/pharmacists were in 10th place (in February 2008 – 58th place). Doctors who in February 2008 did not even get into the top hundred of scarce specialties, in November 2008 took the 17th place in the ranking.

According to HeadHunter statistics, the salary offers of employers to medical representatives and the expectations of applicants for these vacancies practically coincide and amount to approximately 35 thousand rubles. At the same time, pharmacists and pharmacists, counting on a salary of 30 thousand rubles or more, receive from employers, according to published vacancies, offers in the amount of 25 thousand 400 rubles. The average salaries offered to doctors are 35 thousand rubles, with the expected 40 thousand or more.
