If it wasn't for Friske…

St. Petersburg deputies propose the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation
to finance innovations in the treatment of brain cancer

On February 13, the Commission of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg on Social Policy and Health Care at its meeting decided to appeal to Federal Minister Veronika Skvortsova with a request to allocate funds for research aimed at the development and creation of cellular antitumor therapeutic vaccines of a new generation. According to the correspondent of IA REGNUM, the appeal, in particular, notes that the development and application of this technology can help in the treatment of patients with malignant oncological diseases of the brain, such as anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma.

In St. Petersburg, on the basis of two federal institutions – the Russian Research Neurosurgical Institute named after Professor A.L.Polenov and the St. Petersburg Institute of Nuclear Physics named after B.P.Konstantinov, research has been conducted over the past few years, on the basis of which an original technique of specific antitumor immunotherapy has been developed, a protocol for its use in patients with malignant glial tumors has been created and conducted primary approbation.

According to experts, the allocation of additional budget funds will help to complete this promising work, create a new generation of antitumor vaccine and increase the life expectancy of patients with malignant brain tumors.

The fact that their colleagues from the State Duma have been discussing the project for the fourth year and still cannot adopt the Federal Law "On Biomedical Cell Technologies", which is why it is impossible to use such a vaccine for treatment, and not in clinical trials, the deputies did not remember.
