"I express my consent that in the event of my death, my organs will be donated," Polish President Andrzej Duda said during the opening of the XII Symposium of the Polish Transplantation Society on Friday, January 22.

The head of the Polish state called on all Poles to sign the donor card. "It will be a support for Polish transplantology. It's about answering the question of whether you are ready to accept that we do not live and die for ourselves," he said.

Also during the symposium, the President of Poland presented the Cross of Merit awards to 16 individuals for the development of transplantology in Poland.

The XII symposium of the Polish Transplantation Society was organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first successful kidney transplant operation in Poland. The operation took place on January 26, 1966 and marked the beginning of the era of organ transplantation in Poland.
