The Novosibirsk biotechnological company "Biooil" has developed a biological product capable of purifying waste water from food production and catering enterprises from a large amount of fats.

This was announced on Tuesday by TASS on the sidelines of the V International Forum of Technological Development "Technoprom" in Novosibirsk, the technical director of the company Anatoly Glushkov.

According to the representative of the company, there are analogues of such a drug both in Russia and abroad. However, the Novosibirsk development is 5-7 times more efficient than them and 30% cheaper.

"The main part of it (the drug – approx. TASS) the task is wastewater treatment and environmental improvement. This drug destroys fats of both animal and vegetable origin. In the sewer system, it creates a colony (of bacteria) that destroy fats, preventing blockages from forming and purifying the water," Glushkov said.

He noted that bacteria absorb fat and live in the sewer as long as it gets there. The colony only needs to be replenished from time to time, as the bacteria are washed off with water and destroyed by aggressive chemical reagents. However, microorganisms are quite resistant to the latter.

Currently, developers are establishing industrial production of the drug. It will be useful for meat processing plants, poultry farms and other food industries, as well as catering enterprises. A number of contracts for the supply of the drug have already been concluded with the company.

The drug is presented as one of the projects of the Siberian Venture Fair, which traditionally takes place in Novosibirsk together with the Technoprom forum.
