Scientists from the CIS and Europe take part in the international scientific conference on microbial biotechnologies in Minsk

Zakhar Shcherbakov, BelaPANThe International Scientific Conference "Microbial Biotechnologies: Fundamental and Applied aspects", which takes place on June 4-6 at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) in Minsk, brought together leading scientists from CIS countries and Europe.

Representatives of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Serbia and Latvia are taking part in the forum, the press service of the NASB reports. The organizers of the event, in addition to the NASB, were the GNPO "Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology", the Institute of Microbiology, the Belarusian Public Association of Microbiologists and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research.

The participants discuss the current state and prospects for the development of microbiology and biotechnology, the safety of the use of genetically modified producers of biologically active substances, the use of the latest computer developments in biotechnology, the use of research results in these areas in agriculture, medicine, industry, and environmental protection.

On June 5, a round table meeting will be held at the Institute of Microbiology of the NASB, dedicated to discussing the results of the implementation of the EurAsEC interstate target program and the draft program concept for 2016-2020.

A meeting of the Eastern Palearctic Regional Section of the International Organization for Biological Control of Harmful Animals and Plants will be held there on June 6. Scientists will discuss "global trends in the biologization of agriculture, raise safety issues when using biological control agents, identify tasks for improving technologies for obtaining and applying plant protection products from diseases and pests."

As part of the scientific forum, an exhibition of GNPO products "Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology" is being held in the main building of the NASB. It presents the latest developments for agriculture, medicine, industry and environmental protection, including microbial preparations, reagent kits, devices, diagnostics (suspensions of dead microbes that serve as antigens and allergens in research).
