Muhammad Ali will try to cure Parkinson's disease with stem cells

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who has long suffered from Parkinson's syndrome, will travel to Israel to undergo an experimental course of stem cell treatment at the local biotech company BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics.

Representatives of this company announced that they intend to switch to experiments with people in the near future. Previously, a series of experiments with mice showed good results in the treatment of diseases such as muscular atrophy, Parkinson's syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis and Huntington's disease.

According to NEWSru Israel, the experiments will be conducted at the Adasa Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. At the first stage, 26 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in the lethal stage will participate in them. The company intends to start experimenting with patients suffering from Parkinson's syndrome in a year and a half.

Rashida Ali, the daughter of the great boxer, who is on the advisory board of the company, appealed to BrainStorm owner Chaim Leibovitz with a request to reserve a place for her father. He has already promised that Muhammad Ali will be one of the participants in the experiment.
