Geneticists of international level will tell in Voronezh about the fight against aging

Experts in the field of genetics and post-genomic technologies will talk in Voronezh about the fight against aging. The conference "Postgenomic Technologies in Medicine: from theory to practice" will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 1 and 2.

Professor Alexander Maslov, one of the leading researchers of the human aging process, will speak at the conference.

The researcher will talk about studying the genome of centenarians and finding the key to aging at the genetic level. Alexander Maslov started his scientific activity in Voronezh, currently works at the Albert Einstein Medical College (USA).

Professor of the Faculty of Genetics of the Albert Einstein Medical College Jan Weig will read a report on the mechanisms of aging. Jan Weig was the first to develop transgenic mouse models to study mutagenesis on a living organism. These models are used to study the dependence of aging on genome damage. The scientist is developing methods for analyzing the genome of individual cells to study mutations in relation to oncology and aging of the body.

Jan Weig has worked at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, Harvard Medical School in Boston, the University of Texas Health Science Center, and the Institute for Aging Research in California. The scientist is the author of eight patents and the founder of two biotech companies.

The guest of the conference will be Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexey Moskalev. The scientist has written more than 60 papers on the genetics of aging, life expectancy and radiation genetics. Alexey Moskalev is the head of the Laboratory of Genetics of Life expectancy and Aging at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
