Prostamol uno does not cure prostatitis

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) reported that on November 24, 2008, it imposed an administrative fine of 40 thousand rubles on Berlin-Chemie/Menarini Pharma GmbH for improper advertising of the drug "Prostamol uno". Earlier, on September 21, 2008, the FAS recognized this advertisement as improper, violating Part 7 of Article 5 of the Federal Law "On Advertising".

Advertising of the drug was placed in August – December of this year on the air of NTV and Sport TV channels. The videos contained the expressions: "Prostamol uno". Treatment of prostatitis and prostate adenoma", "Prostamol". Just be a man." Meanwhile, the word "treatment" used in advertising indicates the possibility of influencing the body of patients, while the drug prostamol uno can only relieve the symptoms of prostatitis, but not cure the disease. Thus, there is no essential information about the drug and its capabilities in the advertising of Berlin-Chemie/Menarini Pharma GmbH, according to the FAS.

In accordance with part 6 of Article 38 of the Federal Law "On Advertising", the advertiser is responsible for violating the requirements established by parts 2-8 of Article 5 of the law. The FAS of Russia ordered the advertiser – the Berlin-Chemie/Menarini Pharma company – to stop violating the advertising legislation.

According to part 7 of Article 5 of the Federal Law "On Advertising", advertising in which the meaning of information is distorted and consumers are misled is not allowed.
