Serial killer found by DNA
In the Novosibirsk region, the suspect's involvement in a series of murders has been established
According to the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk region, on July 16, 2015, the body of a 31-year-old woman was found in the Moshkovsky district of the Novosibirsk region. According to this fact, the investigative bodies of the IC of Russia in the Novosibirsk region opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder). As part of the investigation of the criminal case, the investigator appointed a molecular genetic examination of the victim's clothing items seized from the crime scene in order to obtain the genotype of the person involved in the commission of the crime and check it against DNA databases. On October 16 of this year, the investigative authorities received a message about the unknown disappearance of a 28-year-old woman in the Kalininsky district of Novosibirsk. During the investigation of this criminal case, a suspect was identified and detained. It turned out to be a 39-year-old, previously convicted, local taxi driver.
Thanks to DNA traces seized from the scene in the Moshkovsky district, taken from the victim's clothing, and as a result of a genetic examination carried out during the day by forensic experts of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Novosibirsk region, it was possible to establish a match of the DNA profile of the person who committed the crime with the genotype of the detained man. Under the weight of the presented evidence and competently conducted investigative actions and operational measures, the suspect confessed, including to committing two more murders of women.
The disclosure of these cruel crimes against women became possible as a result of the coordinated and professional work of all law enforcement agencies of the region. Investigators and criminologists of the Investigative Committee carried out a complex and painstaking work to establish the involvement of the suspect in a series of murders. Currently, investigative actions are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the suspect's involvement in similar crimes. The criminal case is under control in the investigative department.
