Skolkovo Innovation Award: Semi-final

23 out of 2318 ideas that made it to the second round reached the semi-finals of the Skolkovo Innovation Award competition, the organizers of the competition, representatives of Cisco and the Skolkovo Innovation Center said at a press conference on Thursday.

The semi–finalists are authors of ideas from 16 cities of Russia, including Moscow, Kursk, Orenburg, Novosibirsk, Perm, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen, Khabarovsk and a number of other cities.

According to the head of the department for work with government agencies of Cisco Mikhail Pakhomov, the company will offer the semi-finalists of the competition, at least, training at the Cisco Entrepreneurship Institute under a special program. Its goal is to teach the authors of ideas how to grow a business out of them and help them bring their projects to a level where they will have a good chance of becoming residents of Skolkovo.

Most of the ideas that reached the semifinals (20 ideas) were selected by the decision of the selection committee of the competition. Three more ideas made it to the semifinals based on the results of voting on the contest website. The areas of innovation in which the ideas that reached the semifinals were proposed turned out to be very different: from web projects to promote various commercial services to healthcare solutions, identification systems and information display systems.
