Skolkovo-med: Moscow International Medical Center

Medical Skolkovo will appear in Moscow

Copper newsThe so–called medical cluster - the Moscow International Medical Center (MMMC) will be built in the capital, Izvestia reports.

The construction of the cluster is going to be handled by AFK Sistema, which asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for a special tax status (similar to that of Skolkovo) for its offspring.

According to the publication, Putin instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to support the request of AFK Sistema to provide tax benefits to the MMC. In addition to the preferences of Innograd, the president of Sistema, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, asked the head of state for "financial support" for the creation of a medical institute and a center for advanced training on the basis of the cluster, as well as for the "speedy receipt" of all necessary licenses and permits issued by state bodies. Another request of Yevtushenkov is to provide the infrastructure of the project (construction of additional roads and metro stations) at the expense of the capital's budget.

It is planned that MMMC will become the largest medical cluster in Russia. It will include a hospital complex, rehabilitation centers, a clinical research center, as well as a medical institute and a center for advanced training. Foreign workers will also be involved as specialists. It is assumed that the cluster will be created on the basis of Medsi, a subsidiary of Sistema Medical Company.

Last year, Sistema achieved the merger of Medsi's medical assets with the Moscow Mayor and Government Affairs Management Medical Center. After the merger, Medsi has 22 metropolitan polyclinics, including specialized children's and large clinical diagnostic centers; 11 polyclinics in the regions, more than 80 medical posts throughout the country; its own ambulance service and three Moscow hospitals with 1,160 beds.
