Experts assessed Russia's place in the world market of medical services on a ten-point scale.

The study was conducted from February to March, and 30 specialists took part in it. The experts considered the introduction of new technologies in medical organizations, the development of their own drugs, the personnel potential of institutions and compared these indicators with the results of other countries. They evaluated the indicators on a ten–point scale, where 10 is the world leader, 0 is the absolute lag.

"It was noted that in the mass segment, the position of domestic medicine is better – Russia is not a leader, but also not a hopeless outsider. Skeptical opinions were expressed more often regarding the development of innovative medicine," explained Alexey Firsov, Executive Director of the Summa Technologies Club.

On average, experts rated mass Russian medicine by five points, and innovative medicine by three points.

The study says that today Russia uses about 30% of the technologies available in world medicine. The remaining 70% are not used because of the high cost or lack of qualified doctors, Izvestia writes.
