According to the press service of the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade (CERPPiT), pharmaceutical companies CJSC ArSiAySintez and CJSC Biomedical Research and Production Complex (MBNPC) Cytomed have decided to open their branches at the Novo-Orlovskoye site of the St. Petersburg special Economic Zone.

As it is noted in the message of KERPPiT, at the Expert Council of CJSC ArSiAySintez and CJSC Cytomed held in Moscow at the end of April, they successfully defended their business plans, and in the near future they will have to conclude an agreement on conducting technical and implementation activities on the territory of the SEZ "St. Petersburg" with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

Cytomed plans to create a scientific and industrial complex for the research and production of active pharmaceutical substances on the territory of the St. Petersburg SEZ. The company will launch the production of new original drugs using its own technologies for obtaining original molecules that are used in medicine as immunomodulatory drugs. Investments in the project will amount to 210 million rubles. CJSC ArSiAySintez is implementing a project to develop innovative antitumor drugs for the treatment of oncological diseases. The company will invest more than 2 billion rubles in the creation of a new production facility. New residents of the St. Petersburg pharmaceutical cluster at the Novoorlovskaya site will be given the opportunity to start implementing their projects and enter the construction site this year, before the completion of comprehensive engineering preparation of the territory. Novartis, Vertex and Vital Development companies have already become residents of the Novo-Orlovskoye site.

The decision to create a pharmaceutical cluster was made by the city government in early 2010. Since that time, nine investment projects have already been initiated for the construction of new plants with a total investment of 25.12 billion rubles. "Today, it is one of the most dynamically developing segments of the urban economy," the company noted.
