Unsportsmanlike genes

around the worldScientists from 14 organizations around the world studied more than 600 people and came to the conclusion that every fifth inhabitant of the Earth inherits genes from his parents that make him "unfit" for sports.

That is, the carrier of such genes can spend at least twenty-four hours on simulators, but will still remain in bad shape, the Daily Mail reports (Fitness flop? It's all down to the genes, claim researchers).

During the study, the subjects were asked to work out on exercise bikes. Meanwhile, the doctors monitored how the condition of the participants changed after classes and measured the amount of oxygen in their blood. As you know, running, cycling and walking in the fresh air increase the body's ability to absorb and process oxygen, thereby increasing human resistance to diseases.

The study of the participants' DNA showed that 30 genes are responsible for oxygen uptake, and differences in 11 of them correlate with changes in the physical condition of the subject after exercise. Every fifth subject was a carrier of such a combination of genes, because of which oxygen consumption almost did not change, despite the fact that a person regularly pedaled an exercise bike at a fast pace for several weeks. But 10% of the subjects, whom scientists called lucky, had noticeable improvements in their physical health.

This discovery allowed scientists to create a blood test technique that allows identifying carriers of "unsportsmanlike" genes. The application for patenting the test has already been filed, it is expected that it will appear on the market within a year.
