VI All-Russian Congress "Symbiosis-Russia"
At the All-Russian Congress of Young Biologists "Symbiosis-Russia" in Irkutsk
about 300 people will take part
About 100 graduate students, students, and schoolchildren from 40 cities of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Latvia, Finland, as well as Greece and the USA will make presentations. This was announced at the opening of the congress by the chairman of the All-Russian Biological Association "Symbiosis-Russia" Mikhail Kuznetsov.
Irkutsk became the first Siberian city to host the symposium "Symbiosis-Russia", whose goals are to popularize scientific biological knowledge and solve problems of environmental protection and Lake Baikal. The event was organized by the Limnological Institute, Irkutsk State University, Siberian Institute of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry SB RAS, as well as the Irkutsk Regional Library named after I.I. Molchanov-Sibirsky, which prepared a personalized library card for each participant of the congress.
The scientific program of the Congress consists of six sections: microbiology and biotechnology; biodiversity and ecology; genetics, molecular biology, bioengineering; physiology and biochemistry of humans and animals, immunology; physiology, systematics, morphology and biochemistry of plants; biophysics and biomedicine; bioinformatics; soil science; school section. Within the framework of the symposium, leading Russian scientists will hold an educational school on the topic "A new look at the current problems of biology and medicine".
The work of the congress is aimed at the exchange of experience and knowledge between young people and well-known scientists. "The name of the scientific forum can be interpreted in different ways. On the one hand, it is a Russian-language transcription of the name of the Congress of European students. On the other hand, it is a biological term. Symbiosis is a mutually beneficial interaction of two or more organisms on the same territory. The Symbiosis-Russia Congress is an example of a beneficial relationship between young scientists and already recognized leaders of science, it is work in very different areas of biology. Today, research results are obtained at the junction of different disciplines. Therefore, I believe that this conference will lead to interdisciplinary interaction," said Igor Bychkov, Chairman of the Presidium of the Irkutsk Scientific Center SB RAS, Director of the Institute of System Dynamics and Control Theory SB RAS.
The sections will work in two languages – Russian and English. Every day from August 19 to 22, all sectional reports will be broadcast in real time in the form of a webinar. According to the results of the scientific conference, the city that will host the congress of young biologists in 2015 will be determined.
The Symposium of Biology Students of Europe SimBioSe was founded in Germany in 1996. The first forum was held in Berlin in 1997, representatives of 12 European countries spoke at it. The Russian branch of the association was founded in 2008. At the same time, it was decided to hold the first All-Russian Congress of Young Biologists on the basis of Kazan State University.
