We train on dogs

A Harvard geneticist has created a dog rejuvenation startup

In the future, the scientist intends to extend research to people.

Geneticist, molecular engineer and chemist George Church from Harvard founded the startup Rejuvenate Bio to learn how to rejuvenate dogs using gene therapy. In the future, the researcher intends to use this experience to rejuvenate people and is ready to be the first to test the method on himself.

Rejuvenate Bio already uses about 60 methods of gene therapy. The idea is to edit genes to defeat old age with the help of drugs. In particular, we are talking about two genes that are responsible for the development of heart and kidney failure, obesity and diabetes mellitus. Earlier this year, Church said that the company had completed tests on mice and was now testing the drugs on dogs. He called the first results of the research "stunning." The ultimate goal of the scientist's research is, according to him, that a person has "the body and mind of a 22-year-old and the experience of a 130-year-old."

Harvard biologist David Sinclair, who collaborates with Church's startup, said that life extension is "the most amazing thing that will happen in the XXI century," compared to which everything Elon Musk does will seem boring. Observers note that projects related to rejuvenation and life extension are popular in Silicon Valley today, as they are in demand from billionaires.
