Will they give us ustanouka again?

Returning to TV, Kashpirovsky can finally damage the Russians' psycheThe possible return to the TV screen of the infamous "healer" Anatoly Kashpirovsky may harm the health of Russians, says Tatiana Dmitrieva, director of the State Scientific Center for Social and Forensic Psychiatry named after Serbsky.

Recall that last week in some online media there was information about the plans of the NTV television company to launch a new project with the participation of Kashpirovsky, known for his "healing" TV shows in the late 80s. It was reported that as part of the new program, the 69-year-old "healer" will be visited by Russian pop and show business stars and talk about their problems. According to media reports, singer Lolita Milyavskaya has already starred in the first program. NTV officially refuses to comment and says it's too early.

"It's always dangerous. He has such a trail of severe consequences for the health of the population that I am very surprised which person came up with it," Dmitrieva told RIA Novosti on Thursday, commenting on Kashpirovsky's possible return to TV. She noted that "it is impossible to step on the same rake a second time," and stressed that it is about national security. "You can do something to please the public, but not to the detriment of your own country," said the leading psychiatrist of the Russian Federation.

The head of the SSC named after Serbsky recalled that a few years ago she sued Kashpirovsky and won the court. "We had a man who was injured. The husband sued because his wife, after watching enough of his (Kashpirovsky) sessions, threw herself out of the window. I gave this example in an interview, but Kashpirovsky was offended and sued," Dmitrieva said.

Recall that Kashpirovsky became extremely popular in 1989. On television, he gave mass psychotherapy sessions and allegedly healed citizens with his "installations" from alcoholism, enuresis and baldness. At the same time Kashpirovsky toured the country a lot. However, soon the doctors sounded the alarm and demanded to ban Kashpirovsky's show. In particular, one of the consequences of the psychotherapist's work was the fact that after his sessions psychiatric hospitals were regularly replenished with new clients.

In 1993, Kashpirovsky was elected to the State Duma of Russia. And in 1995 he moved to the USA. However, after some time Kashpirovsky returned to his homeland with his "treatment sessions" and began to travel around the country. This was accompanied by protests by citizens and representatives of religious denominations.

As a result, law enforcement officers became interested in Kashpirovsky's lectures. In January 2007, the Chelyabinsk court found Anatoly Kashpirovsky guilty of illegal medical practice and fined him 1,700 rubles.
